Patients will be asked to wear masks at all times unless the actual test sampling is being done and have a drivers license or a state issued ID for services.
Patients can drive up to the facility and call 877-286-5115. Give the make and color of your car and an ATN lab collector will come to you car and collect your identification/insurance information and then collect the specimen from you.
In order to collect a specimen for the COVID-19 test, the patient's head is tilted back 70 degrees. Gently and slowly a swab is inserted through the nostril parallel to the palate (not upwards) until resistance is encountered or the distance is equivalent to that from the ear to the nostril of the patient, indicating contact with the nasopharynx. The swab is then gently rubbed on the mucosa. The swab left in place for several seconds to absorb secretions. Slowly the swab is then removed. The process usually takes less than 15 seconds..
The specimen collector uses a fingerstick device to obtain small drops of blood to fill a sampling device for testing.
